I can say that it is easy for you to feel detached from what is going on down below you. Most places look beautiful and just looking outside, you really might not have any clue as to the terrible things that may be happening down below.
This is a major river that has had battles fought around it for centuries. But you would never know it from 60,000 feet. We were usually busily engaged with what was going on down on the ground around us but I still found time to take shots during the quieter times. It always amazed me how beautiful and peaceful it looked, despite knowing how hellish it could sometimes be for people on the ground.
